Russian River Brewing has announced the release window for the 2023 edition of its famed Pliny the Younger, one of the most anticipated events in the beer aficionado’s calendar.
Pliny the Younger will be available on tap and in bottles at both the Santa Rosa and Windsor pubs from March 24th to April 6th, 2023.
You may notice that this is a later date than what has been the norm and that it no longer coincides with the advent of San Francisco Beer Week in February. Russian River says that this is owing to what they learned last year, when they had to delay the general release due to COVID-19 having taken its toll on the brewery’s staff. The delayed release in 2022 revealed several unforeseen advantages to waiting a bit – not only did it fit better into the company’s brewing calendar, but the weather was better than in February, allowing for a more enjoyable experience for customers.
However, fear not that you will miss out on it if you are in the San Francisco Bay Area in February for Beer Week, as Russian River intends to still release Pliny the Younger kegs to its draft accounts in February.
As noted, however, bottles -offered this year for the third time- will be available only at the pubs during the March 24-April 6th window. And for those, you will, as usual, have to stand in line.
