Bucket of Flowers is a Belgian witbier (5% abv) brewed Edmund’s Oast Brewing Co. of Charleston, South Carolina. It was also one of the beers brought to me by my daughter and son-in-law.
In appearance, Bucket of Flowers is golden and translucent, with a slight haze. Its initially abundant bright white head soon subsides to a layer of small bubbles, which cover the top of the drink and also cling to the sides of the glass.
Bucket of Flowers is brewed with orange peel and rosebuds. And, it shows.
When one pours it, and more so when moving the glass to one’s mouth, one is pleasantly struck by those orange peel and rosebud aromas. There’s hops there, too, but way in the background.
In the mouth, Bucket of Flowers is slightly sweet, with a malty, silky mouthfeel. There is a “Belgiannyness” to the beer, as well, with a the slightest hint of a bite in the aftertaste. The roses show up even more in the taste than in the smell. This beer lives up to its name!
Another thing worth remarking on is the label art on the can. I really like it. I think that style of illustration is quite handsome, and really harkens to a craft tradition.
