Early this morning, Lima’s Barranco Beer Company abruptly announced via its Instagram account that it will be closing its doors after this weekend. No explanation was given.
After ten years in business, having survived the pandemic shut-down, Barranco Beer looked to be a steady feature of the Lima, and Peruvian, craft beer scene. Barranco Beer Co. was one of the first and finest brewpubs in the country and set a standard for others to follow.
It goes without saying that the news has come as a shock to Lima’s tight-knit craft beer and homebrewing community. Already plans are being made by members of the country’s main homebrewing organization for a members to descend on Barranco Beer Company this Friday to give it a proper send-off.
Barranco Beer Company will be sorely missed, and I wish Sara Lefevre and the rest of the owners and crew all the best in their future endeavors.
